Rocky Mountain High

Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park is one of those places you just can’t get enough of! It’s the 100 year anniversary of the park’s opening and it’s as popular as ever. Many people are there seeing the incredible landscape and wild life such as elk, deer, and bobcat. When I drove to an area near the continental divide I felt as if I was on top of the world and it seemed like I could see forever. Up this high you could see massive boulders and rock formations that appeared on tundra covering the mountain tops. Down lower in the valleys you could see forested meadows where elk would graze. The place I really enjoyed hiking is called Bear Lake and is a small lake that has trails that will take you around a beautiful mountain lake and to other scenic areas nearby. I would liked to have seen more of the park but the area is just too big and vast to see it all in a few days. Which is good, so I can keep coming back to see more. September is a great time to visit since its early fall the trees are turning to many different colors and the weather is mild and great for the outdoors.

Colorado or Bust

I’m leaving for Boulder, Colorado tomorrow bright and early to see the awesome Rocky Mountains!!! Since I live in Oklahoma I really enjoy getting to see this magnificent area any time I can make it there. I will be visiting Rocky Mountain National Park and look forward to hiking there and hopefully see the wild life that makes it worth every minute. Last January I visited there in the dead of winter and it was nothing short of incredible…can’t wait to see it in early fall. Here are some pics…
